US President Donald Trump shared his positive outlook on the durability of the Gaza ceasefire, despite indications of violations. Responding to inquiries in the Oval Office, the 79-year-old leader expressed confidence in the ceasefire’s sustainability, citing weariness of conflict among the parties involved.

Following the ceasefire declaration, a significant movement of individuals towards the north of Gaza was observed, with many facing the aftermath of Israel’s extensive bombing campaign over the past two years. Trump also expressed optimism regarding Gaza’s reconstruction, highlighting the financial capacity of wealthy nations in the region to support the rebuilding efforts.

Displaced residents returning to areas like Khan Younis encountered a grim reality of destruction and desolation. Amid these challenges, Trump remained steadfast in his belief that Gaza’s landscape would transform for the better, despite missing out on the Nobel Peace Prize recognition.

Our journalist, Chris Hughes, recounted a firsthand experience from the Gaza border, capturing the eerie calm that settled over the region as the ceasefire took effect. Palestinians embarked on the journey back to their homes in war-torn northern Gaza, while negotiations for the release of hostages and prisoners continued as part of the peace plan facilitated by Trump.

The cessation of hostilities brought a rare sight of clear skies over Gaza, allowing residents a moment of respite to assess the damage and contemplate the future. The withdrawal of Israeli troops to agreed boundaries marked a significant step towards implementing Trump’s comprehensive peace strategy for Gaza.
