Asda introduces a new pricing pledge, offering thousands of everyday items at lower prices than Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons loyalty card rates. Over 2,300 products, including fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core groceries, and bakery items, are now priced more competitively by Asda.

Moreover, Asda customers can benefit from a 10% cashback in Asda Rewards Cashpot on all fresh produce purchases made in-store throughout January. Rachel Eyre, Asda’s Chief Customer Officer, expressed that the aim is to support families facing financial constraints post-Christmas by providing affordable prices on frequently purchased items. The Asda Price initiative ensures transparent and consistent pricing accessible to all, without the necessity of a loyalty card.

Contrastingly, Asda endured a challenging holiday season as its market share dwindled to 11.4% in the 12 weeks ending December 28, based on data from analysts Worldpanel. The supermarket chain experienced a 4.2% decline in sales during this period, marking its 22nd consecutive month of decreasing sales.

In contrast, competitors Tesco and Sainsbury’s managed to attract more shoppers, expanding their market dominance over Asda, the UK’s third-largest supermarket. Tesco recently announced a commitment to maintaining the affordability of 3,000 branded products consistently through its new Everyday Low Prices campaign.
