Bulgaria has been identified as the leading destination for an affordable summer vacation this year, recommended for families planning a budget-friendly getaway. According to TravelSupermarket, Bulgaria topped the list with an average cost of £760 per person for a week-long, all-inclusive holiday. Following closely behind were Morocco at £852 and Malta at £862 per person for a seven-night stay.

The analysis, based on family holiday searches from October 5 of the previous year to the present, focused on travel between May and September 2026. It highlighted significant price variations among popular vacation spots.

Comparing prices across 13 favored destinations, Bulgaria showed a decrease of £54 per person, representing a 7% drop since the previous summer. In contrast, Cyprus emerged as the most expensive choice at £1,186 per person.

Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, secured the fourth spot on the list with an average cost of £888 per person, maintaining prices consistent with the previous year. Turkey ranked 11th at £1,057, and Greece followed closely in 12th place at £1,096 per person.

Croatia was ranked as the 10th most economical destination for this summer, averaging £1,046 per person. However, the cost of a typical trip to Croatia has decreased by 12% from the previous year, making it £136 more affordable this season.

For families considering long-haul trips, TravelSupermarket identified Cape Verde as the best value destination at £1,247 per person, followed by the United Arab Emirates at £1,297, the Dominican Republic at £1,664, and Mexico at £1,694.

Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, commented on the findings, stating, “Bulgaria appears poised to maintain its status as the preferred budget-friendly all-inclusive destination. Despite price increases, Tunisia and Morocco continue to rank among the top five most affordable countries, providing excellent value for families. Croatia, having gained a reputation as a costly spot since adopting the Euro in January 2023, has seen a significant 12% reduction in prices, offering renewed affordability for families seeking a memorable vacation experience.”
