Jamie Laing and Spencer Matthews have finally opened up about their friendship rift. The issue arose when Jamie, 36, did not invite Spencer, also 36, to his wedding with Sophie Habboo in 2023.

Their friendship dates back to their teenage years in school before they rose to fame on the reality show “Made in Chelsea.” Spencer was part of the show’s first season, with Jamie joining shortly after. They quickly became known for their lively escapades in Chelsea and complex romantic relationships.

Spencer exited the show in 2015 and later tied the knot with Vogue Williams in 2018 after meeting on The Jump. They are now parents to three children, with Jamie serving as godfather to their daughter Gigi. Jamie departed from “Made in Chelsea” in 2021 following his marriage to a fellow cast member. The duo had already launched a successful podcast titled “Six Degrees from Jamie and Spencer” in 2020.

However, fans observed a shift in their bond in recent times, primarily stemming from Jamie’s wedding preparations. Two months before the grand celebration in Spain, a legal service took place at Chelsea Registry Office. Spencer, expected to lead the main event, was on vacation in Portugal during the registry service, triggering speculation that he had snubbed Jamie.

In response to the backlash, Spencer clarified online that he was not invited to this part of the wedding and neither was Vogue. Privately, Spencer expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that he would have made efforts to attend had he known. Jamie later acknowledged his mistake, taking full responsibility for the oversight.

The duo has now revisited the situation on the podcast “Great Company,” delving into the fallout that impacted their long-standing friendship. Spencer revealed his hurt and confusion over not being invited to Jamie’s wedding, recounting how he learned about it through a news article.

Jamie attributed his decision to anxiety and the overwhelming wedding preparations. He admitted to struggling with anxiety during that period and feeling torn between his wife’s desires for a simple ceremony and the podcast obligations. Jamie also mentioned his concerns about Spencer’s sobriety and how he misjudged the situation.

Both Spencer and Jamie acknowledged the breakdown in communication and expressed their commitment to rebuilding their decades-long friendship. They are now focused on moving past the misunderstanding and strengthening their bond once again.
