A 34-year-old former nurse has been sentenced to two years in prison for engaging in sexual activity with her 15-year-old stepson. Alexis Von Yates pleaded no contest to a charge of lewd and lascivious battery and will also serve two years of community control and 10 years of sex offender probation. Additionally, she is required to complete 200 hours of community service, cover court costs, and pay fines.
The incident came to light when Von Yates’ husband, Frank Yates, walked in on her with his stepson on the living room sofa in July last year. Von Yates justified her actions by claiming that she targeted her stepson because he reminded her of her husband, as per police reports. The nurse, who has since been removed from her position, had been making jokes about her sexual desires leading up to the assault.
The stepson recounted how the encounter unfolded, stating that Von Yates initiated physical contact and remarked that he was not old enough. Subsequently, she engaged in sexual acts without protection, despite hearing noises in the garage. When the boy’s father unexpectedly entered the room, the teenager rushed to the bathroom.
Following the incident, the boy did not disclose the details to his father, fearing physical punishment. However, the father eventually reported the incident to the authorities. Von Yates and her husband have since separated, as confirmed in a prison remand report.
When asked to provide a statement to the court, Von Yates declined to comment on the matter.
