A court trial revealed that a man was fatally stabbed and mutilated, then his naked body was disposed of in a commercial bin and later found in a landfill site months after the incident. The victim, Cumali Turhan, 45, died in a serious assault in Chelmsford city center last November. Ciprian Ilie, 45, is accused of assisting Ceyhan Dinler in cleaning up the crime scene and disposing of Turhan’s body.

Ilie is also facing allegations of providing Dinler with new clothes and remains at large, believed to have fled to Turkey. Turhan was reportedly killed on November 19 following ongoing tensions with Dinler. The police discovered Turhan’s body in an Essex landfill on January 11 after an extensive search. Ilie’s trial commenced at Chelmsford Crown Court where he denies the charges against him.

During the trial, it was revealed that Ilie claimed to have acted under duress after allegedly being threatened by Dinler. However, the prosecution argued that there was no real threat, and Ilie willingly assisted Dinler in disposing of Turhan’s body. The court heard that Dinler and Turhan had a known history of disputes related to a romantic relationship between Turhan and Dinler’s girlfriend.

The incident escalated on the night of November 18 when Dinler allegedly stabbed Turhan in a bar, causing fatal injuries. Ilie, who occasionally worked for Dinler, was seen arriving at the bar later that night to fetch fresh clothes for Dinler. The following morning, Turhan’s body was disposed of in a commercial bin before being taken away by a bin lorry.

Dinler was later spotted at various locations, including a cafe and an airport, eventually fleeing to Istanbul. Ilie was arrested by Essex Police the next day. The landfill site where Turhan’s body was found had to be thoroughly searched, leading to the discovery on January 11. The prosecution argued that while Ilie did not commit the murder, his actions aided Dinler in concealing the crime.

The trial is ongoing as more details continue to emerge.
