The leader of the Green Party, Zack Polanski, has advocated for the legalization of all drugs, including Class A narcotics. He criticized the current war on drugs as a failure and called for a reevaluation of existing strategies.
In his address before the party’s national conference in Bournemouth, Polanski expressed his belief that the current approach to drug control has not been effective. He highlighted the financial burden placed on taxpayers due to illegal drug activities and the operations of criminal gangs involved in drug trafficking. Polanski criticized previous Prime Ministers for maintaining a stance of making drugs illegal without addressing the underlying problems.
During his speech, Polanski took aim at the government led by Keir Starmer, accusing them of lacking a coherent approach to climate issues and other critical matters. He differentiated the Green Party’s stance from other political parties, rejecting alignment with what he described as unfavorable ideologies. Polanski emphasized the importance of promoting eco-friendly policies and instilling hope through political action.
Regarding the current political landscape, Polanski criticized Labour’s approach to climate change, labeling their policies as contributing to a state of decline rather than renewal. He warned against continuing on the same path under Keir Starmer’s leadership, suggesting that it could pave the way for detrimental influences represented by figures like Nigel Farage. Polanski proposed solutions to challenges such as the small boats crisis through the establishment of safe and legal routes and advocated for a radical wealth tax to support public services.
