Sir AP McCoy has shared his thoughts on the future of Constitution Hill, a promising jumps horse. The horse, who won the 2023 Champion Hurdle and had an undefeated record in ten races, faced setbacks at both the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National meeting at Aintree.

Trainer Nicky Henderson had prepared Constitution Hill for a comeback in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle after a thorough evaluation during the summer. Unfortunately, Constitution Hill fell at the second hurdle in the race, won by Golden Ace.

Despite the recent challenges, Henderson has dismissed the idea of retiring Constitution Hill and is contemplating transitioning the horse to flat racing. McCoy expressed his views on the situation, emphasizing the resilience of racehorses and the need to persist in the face of adversity.

Barry Geraghty, a William Hill ambassador and the original purchaser of Constitution Hill, proposed exploring options to improve the horse’s jumping skills before considering any major changes in racing discipline. He suggested potential rehabilitation programs with experts like Yogi Breisner to address the jumping issues.

The future course of action for Constitution Hill remains uncertain, with different perspectives on how to best support the horse’s career moving forward.
