Todd Chrisley’s daughter Savannah has shared a tearjerking tribute to her jailed dad. The American reality star spent his third birthday behind bars on Sunday. Both Todd, 56, and his wife Julie, 52, were jailed for fraud and tax evasion in 2022. He was sentenced to 12 years behind bars while his wife was given seven years.
Now, three years on, Savannah has paid tribute to her dad on his birthday as she celebrated without him but vowed not to give up fighting for his release. Savannah, who boasts 2.8 million followers on Instagram shared a collection of images with her dad on her page as she paid tribute to him.
Captioning her upload which has been liked 55,000 times, she said: “Here’s to another trip around the sun, Daddy… It’s so hard to believe this is the third birthday we’ve spent apart. Every year that passes without you home feels like another piece of my heart is missing.
“I can’t help but think back to all the birthday adventures we’ve shared over the years…every laugh, every hug, every surprise. Celebrating you has always been one of my life’s greatest joys… One of my greatest adventures. Life moves so quickly, and yet these past three years have felt frozen in time.”
Savannah continued: “You’re three years older since you left home… And those are three years we’ve lost. Three years of memories we’ll never get to make. Three years of heartbreak that time can never give back. But Daddy, I want you to know this…
“I will NEVER stop fighting for you. I will NEVER stop telling the world who you are and what you mean to us. You are so much more than the walls that surround you.
“You are strength. You are love. You are home. And you ARE my best friend. I love you to the moon and back. And always remember…
“You are my sunshine. Happy birthday, Daddy.” Following a trial, both Todd and Julie were found guilty of 12 counts of conspiracy, bank fraud, wire fraud and tax evasion. They have continued to maintain their innocence and have also launched several appeals against the verdict against them.
Earlier this year, Savannah’s brother, Chase, claimed that their family had been “targeted” and that the justice system was “corrupt and broken.” Speaking to the Daily Mail, he fumed: “The government dismantled our entire lives. But my dad didn’t raise us to be weak, they picked the wrong family if they think that we’re not going to fight until we win.
“Losing is not an option in an aspect of life.” But despite both parents being behind bars, he claims that the family are closer than ever and his bond with his parents hasn’t been affected as he “knows the truth.” Currently, his parents are unable to communicate with one another as they are being held in different prisons.
“It’s been hard for them,” he said. Chase went on to add: “I mean, you go from the lifestyle that they were living to being in prison… It’s very unfortunate and the circumstances suck. As far as the conditions go, they’re terrible. There’s black mould… and it’s just scary. It’s scary for us, and I’m sure it’s scary for them.”
