TLC star, Tammy Slaton, has revealed she’s in a new relationship with a woman, three years after her husband died. The star of the smash-hit series 1000-lb Sisters, opens up about her love life in the seventh series of the show, in which Tammy, who has lost a staggering 500 pounds during her weight loss journey, stars alongside her sister, Amy.
Revealing that Amy ‘is not the only one seeing someone new’, the reality star, 38, admits she’s yet to tell her family about her new relationship, sharing: “There’s something I haven’t told my family. Amy’s not the only one that’s been seeing somebody new. So have I…I have been seeing someone for the past couple months and it’s going pretty well.”
She then adds: “The person I’m dating is a woman. So I haven’t told my family because my family’s gonna have something to say about it. I think my family probably has more opinions than the world has a**holes because they be farting so much.”
Tammy, who says she came out as pansexual a few years ago, hasn’t dated anyone since the death of her husband, Caleb Wilingham, who she married in November 2022.
Explaining she doesn’t want to be with men anymore since losing her partner, she says: “A few years ago I came out as pansexual but after Caleb passing, I just don’t want to be with men anymore.”
However, admitting she’s unsure how her family will react when they find out she is dating a woman, she repeats: “I don’t know how my family is going to react when I tell them I’m seeing a woman.”
Tammy’s husband died just seven months after the couple wed from unknown causes, aged 40. Opening up about the moment she found out the heartbreaking news, the TV star told People magazine that a friend of Caleb’s told her over text message that her husband wasn’t doing well – before he informed her just 20 minutes later that he had died.
Explaining that Caleb was at the Ohio Rehab facility while she was in Kentucky, she said: “I was sitting in the fetal position.
“I got a text message from his friend up there and the text said: ‘Caleb’s not doing good. They’re in there working on him.’ 20 minutes later he texted me back and said he was gone.”
The TLC star also said she had been ‘doing fairly well’ following the tragedy, and had even made a ring and musical note-shaped necklace with the ashes of her late husband.
Explaining that the jewellery makes her feel closer to Caleb, she said: “He’s going to live on now forever because his memory is encapsulated.”
Tammy also said she takes comfort in watching back old episodes of 1000-lb Sisters, in which Caleb featured, concluding: “Every time I miss him, I can always look back at the show and watch it and see what made me happy again.’
The season premiere of 1000-Lb. Sisters airs Tuesday April 15 at 9pm ET/PT on TLC.
