BBC presenter Steve Brown had to issue a gentle but firm caution to an enthusiastic couple during the latest instalment of Escape to the Country.
On Friday (April 11), Steve was guiding Jann and Steve, a couple looking to relocate back to the UK after living in Spain, with their quest for a “forever home” in either Shropshire or Herefordshire, with a budget of £500,000 and a desire to be close to village life.
The first property got a thumbs up, but it was the second house that truly captured their hearts. Overwhelmed by its charm, they gushed over the property, calling it “beautiful” and “just about perfect”.
As they swooned over every detail, Steve tried to temper their excitement, reminding them there was more to see and quipping, “Well, let’s not get carried away! We’ve only just started.”
Jann, smitten, responded, “I don’t think I want to see anymore because I’m afraid I’ll like it even more!” The barn conversion, priced at £495,000, seemed to have sealed the deal for them, as they were eager to make an offer.
Later in the episode, it was revealed that Jann and Steve had arranged another viewing with the estate agent for the following day, ready to proceed swiftly.
Regrettably, Jann and Steve didn’t have a fairy-tale ending with their house sale and couldn’t secure the home they had fallen in love with.
Presenter Steve revealed: “Steve and Jann made an offer on the barn conversion but sadly, they were outbid. Undeterred, they returned to Spain and are now packing up their apartment.
They secured a rental cottage in Somerset and hope to be back in the UK for good immediately so they continue the search for their dream home in the country.”, reports Wales Online.
However, they weren’t disheartened and are currently packing up their Spanish apartment.
They’ve managed to secure a rental cottage in Somerset and hope to return to the UK permanently straight away to continue their hunt for their dream country home.
