Celebrity Big Brother fans have taken to social media to slam Mickey Rourke over his recent comments about fellow housemate JoJo Siwa – with many calling for the actor to be kicked off the ITV show. Last night’s show saw Big Brother slap Mickey with a formal warning after making offensive remarks about JoJo’s sexuality.
In a shocking moment in last night’s show, Micky told JoJo – who is in a relationship with non-binary influencer Kath Ebbs – that if he stays longer than four days, she “won’t be gay anymore” and that he will tie her up. He went onto tell his fellow housemates that he was going to “vote the lesbian out real quick” before telling JoJo: “I need a fag. I’m not talking to you.”
Viewers quickly called out the Sin City star over his comments, with one writing: “The blatant homophobia is bad enough but the rapey undertone of ‘you won’t be a lesbian anymore…I’ll tie you up’ shouldn’t be ignored either. F**king sick of queer women being subjected to vile men like this #cbbuk.”
They added: “Honestly it’s grim. JoJo handled it with so much grace and she shouldn’t have had to.”
Meanwhile, another Celebrity Big Brother fan asked Ofcom to intervene as they urged: “@bbuk @Ofcom his needs to be dealt with. A warning for committing a hate crime? He needs to be thrown out.”
A third wrote: “‘I’m gonna vote the lesbian out’ WHY ARE MEN THIS GRIM #CBBUK.” While another tweeted: “JoJo Siwa being subjected to homophobic bigotry from Mickey Rourke was a hard watch #CBBUK.”
And a fifth added: “Ofcom complaint submitted. Mickey Rourke should be out of that house. Violence against women and girls is not a laughing matter, dinosaurs who believe they can turn homosexual women straight with rape belong in the stone ages & deserve no platform in today’s world. #CBBUK“.
Big Brother quickly called Mickey into the diary room to reprimand him over the incident, revealing that any further language or behaviour of that nature could lead to him being removed from the house. Mickey said: “I apologise. I don’t have dishonourable intentions – I’m just talking smack you know. I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.”
Mickey’s JoJo comments weren’t the only controversial moment from the Hollywood star last night, with Mickey also being slammed for “fat-shaming” Donna Preston on the show. After seeing Donna using an LED face mask, Mickey told her: “You’d probably be better off running round the block for ten minutes.”
She responded: “I’ve got to try something. I’m getting a little turkey neck,” to which he said: “It comes with the territory.” He added: “It’s like they say, you are what you eat.”
