WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Stolen Girl.
The Stolen Girl is almost readyto premiere, leaving fans eager to find out when the series will drop and which actors are set to star.
Adapted from Alex Dahl’s bestseller Playdate, The Stolen Girl follows the harrowing ordeal of a mother whose daughter vanishes during a seemingly innocent sleepover.
A captivating trailer gives us a glimpse into the show, starting off with the puzzled Elisa, played by none other than Denise Gough, reminiscing over the day she first crossed paths with Josie’s mum Rebecca, portrayed by Holliday Grainger.
The story escalates when Elisa and Fred, depicted by Jim Sturgess, arrive to collect their daughter Lucia from her friend’s house, only to be confronted with a cleaner who eerily tells them: “I’m here to clean. No one lives here.”
Tensions rise as viewers are left wondering the reason behind the abduction—will Elisa and Fred ever see their precious nine-year-old again?
The Stolen Girl is hitting your screens on Wednesday, April 16, dropping all five nail-biting episodes on Disney+.
Meanwhile, for those in the US, Freeform is set to release episodes every week starting from April 16 at 10pm EST.
American fans will then be able to watch the latest episode the following day, Thursday, April 17, on Hulu.
Taking centre stage as the distraught mum Elisa Blix in The Stolen Girl is the talented Denise Gough, known for her role as Dedra Meero in Andor, the Star Wars spin-off.
She has also starred in Too Close, The Good Traitor and Netflix’s Who Is Erin Carter?.
The character who abducts Elisa’s daughter is Rebecca, played by Holliday Grainger, known for her role as Robin Ellacott in Strike.
Elisa’s husband Fred Blix is brought to life by Jim Sturgess, who played Dexter in the original romance film One Day and has since appeared in Paramount+’s Apartment 7A, Cloud Atlas and The Other Boleyn Girl.
Joining them is Ambika Mod, who portrayed Emma in Netflix’s adaptation of One Day and Shruti in This Is Going To Hurt.
She will be playing the “chaotically persistent journalist” Selma Desai.
Elisa Blix was initially hesitant when her nine-year-old daughter Lucia asked if she could have her first sleepover at her new friend Josie’s house.
However, after meeting Josie’s mum Rebecca and seeing their lovely home, she allowed Lucia to stay overnight with the plan of picking her up in the morning.
But Elisa’s world is turned upside down when she arrives at the house, only to discover that Rebecca, Josie and Lucia are nowhere to be seen.
A manhunt is initiated to find Lucia, and it quickly becomes apparent that Rebecca had a specific reason for targeting the young girl.
So why did she decide to kidnap Lucia and will Elisa ever see her daughter again?
The Stolen Girl premieres on Wednesday, April 16, on Disney+.
