Celebrity Big Brother’s Trisha Goddard spotted breaking rule with banned item

Must read

Some eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Trisha Goddard has been wearing a watch on Celebrity Big Brother, and there’s a very good reason behind it. Items such as watches are usually banned from the show, but an exception was made for the beloved ITV star.

Throughout the season so far, Trisha, 67, has been spotted with a black wristwatch. The timepiece seems to be a classic Casio, so it can tell the time and set alarms without any of the fancy features of some modern watches – which could provide a rule-breaking link to the outside world.

Some fans voiced their concern on X, formerly known as Twitter, with one asking: “How come Trisha gets a watch,” while a second echoed: “I may be dumb but is that an apple watch on Trisha’s wrist???”

While a few viewers were confused, others wisely pointed out that the ITV may have made an allowance for Trisha in order to better monitor her health or medication.

The London native entered the house with stage four breast cancer, meaning it’s treatable but not curable and is being treated by a palliative care team. Trisha first fought the disease in 2008, before being diagnosed in 2023 for a second time.

Mum of two Trisha has been open about the extra measures put in place by Big Brother and ITV in order for her to be able to live healthily in the house.

The TV star explained that she’s been invited onto the show for years and turned it down, but her daughter encouraged her to finally sign up and live more heartily than ever following her terminal diagnosis.

Speaking to the Mirror just before entering the house, Trisha shared: “So my oncologist is my biggest cheerleader and is working with the Big Brother team. I’ve got a special therapist who’s happy to work with the medic on the show.

“My palliative care team – and when I say that word everybody screams and runs away, but it’s symptom treatment – is working with the team here too.

She added: “And then when it comes to my treatment, I had one infusion on Monday, so I’ve got to jump on a plane and go straight back to have the next one as soon as the show is over.”

Trisha explained that everything was set up so that she could get stuck in as much as possible, sharing: “I’ve got a bag full of meds that I normally have which will be with me in the house. So my oncologist has planned my treatment around the production schedule.”

The Dancing on Ice alum summarised to hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best before walking through the door to CBB: “It’s my new normal. I’m going into the Big Brother house to show you can’t be so scared of dying that you become frightened of living.”
