Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones has described her former partner Wynne Evans as “incredible” as he became embroiled in a fresh scandal.
Welsh opera singer Wynne, 53, is said to have sent EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, 30, a sex toy as a joke. As previously reported in The Mirror, the item is believed to have been brandished backstage at the Strictly Live tour.
The footage is believed to have been shared in the Strictly Come Dancing WhatsApp group, which contained celebrity contestants from the series. A source said: “As soon as BBC executives were made aware of this shocking and immature footage being shared they formally addressed the issue and reminded the pair they had to act professionally.”
The Sun reports that EastEnders actor Jamie and Wynne were said to be acting “extremely immaturely” after the item was sent to Birmingham’s Utilita Arena reception. They said: “Bosses were horrified and shocked, hoping to nip the issue in the bud, unaware the video had been shared more widely.”
The video is believed to have been recorded shortly after Wynne made a lewd comment towards host Janette Manrara at the photocall for the Strictly tour. He was subsequently dropped from the show and has since apologised for causing “pain” with his “inappropriate language”, reports Wales Online.
As a result, Wynne has taken a break from hosting his BBC Radio Wales show and has reportedly been axed from the GoCompare adverts. Now Katya, 35, who spent nine weeks on Strictly with Wynne last year, has revealed how she feels about the singer.
Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, she said: “I can only obviously speak from my personal experience, but I thought Wynne was incredible. We spent a huge amount of time together and we had a brilliant partnership. We got on like a house on fire.”

Rumours swirled of tension between Evans and Katya when footage captured the pro-dancer shying away from his high-five and sliding his hand off her waist. Katya has clarified that it was just an “inside joke” gone awry, which unfortunately sparked a negative reaction towards Wynne.
Despite the drama, Katya maintains that looking back at their Strictly journey brings joy. She went on to say: “Wynne has never made me feel uncomfortable in any way. We’ve had the most incredible time together, which no one can take away from us.”
She reminisced warmly about their stint: “I look back fondly on it. I carried on with the tour without him, but it was a shame because we were having a fabulous time and the crowd loved him.”
After being chopped from the Strictly live tour, it seems Wynne isn’t taking things lying down and is considering seeking “recompense”.
Wynne is reportedly planning to take action and seek “recompense” following his axe from the Strictly tour. It came as he issued a rare social media update following the incident, revealing a personal best time on his bike.
He wrote: “Sunday morning 30 mins done. So good for your mental health.” He added the cryptic hashtags: “#truthwins #wynners.”
