A woman in Florida, Daisy Link, is facing a murder trial after being found pregnant while in jail without any physical contact. The incident occurred in 2022 when she was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the death of her husband, Pedro Jimenez. Link gave birth to a baby in 2024, conceived while both she and the father were incarcerated.

During the trial, which commenced on October 8, Link’s defense team argued that she shot her husband in self-defense after enduring years of abuse. Video evidence presented at the trial captured the moments following the shooting, where Link allegedly wounded her husband in the leg, leading to his death.

Prosecutors contended that Link’s actions were driven by anger and that she misled investigators by claiming she found her husband injured in an alley. The jury will determine the justification of the shooting. Link made headlines when news surfaced that she became pregnant in 2023 without physical contact while in a coed Florida jail.

Further investigation revealed that Link collaborated with fellow inmate Joan Depaz, with whom she communicated through prison air vents. Depaz sent semen to Link through the vents, which she used to inseminate herself over a two-month period. Link compared her experience to the Virgin Mary’s and expressed that isolation led to a strong bond with Depaz.

Their communication and exchange of materials were facilitated by a fishing line made from prison items. Link described the process of receiving the semen packets and the communication method used with Depaz. The intricate plot and unconventional means of conception have added a unique twist to the ongoing trial.
