Darts star Matt Clark recently shared a harrowing experience of being advised by doctors to either rest or face dire consequences after being hospitalized due to a life-threatening blood clot. The 57-year-old player, known for his time on the PDC Tour Card from 2003 to 2017 and again from 2019 to 2022, had to step away from the World Seniors Tour to focus on his well-being following the alarming medical scare.

Clark’s successful stint in the World Championships back in 2006 saw him advance to the last 32 before facing a setback against Phil Taylor. After losing his Tour Card, he transitioned to the WDF circuit.

In a candid interview on the Tungsten Tales podcast, Clark recounted the critical health episode, stating, “Midway through the seniors tour, I got a life-threatening blood clot in a not very pleasant place.” He further explained the severity of the situation, recalling the doctor’s warning that any movement could be fatal.

Despite facing health challenges, Clark has shown resilience by returning to competitive darts. He is set to compete as the No. 7 seed in the upcoming WDF World Championship, where he will meet Francois Schweyen in the last 16 stage.

Clark’s remarkable career highlights include winning the 1999 Canadian Open and reaching the quarter-finals of the 2008 World Matchplay. Despite setbacks, he remains optimistic and determined to overcome his health issues, including a recent back problem.

Fans can catch all the action of the PDC World Darts Championship starting on December 11, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle.
