Tesco is set to distribute hundreds of free Christmas trees for a limited time. These trees, considered “wonky” due to imperfections like uneven branches or slight tilting, would typically not be sold. However, Tesco plans to offer them at no cost on December 6 at selected stores. Recipients are encouraged to donate to the food charities Fareshare and Trussell.

The giveaway will take place at various Tesco locations, including Colney Hatch Extra, Borehamwood Extra, Hammersmith, Southport Extra, Goole Superstore, Glossop Superstore, Bristol Brislington Extra, Cardiff Extra, Dundee Riverside Extra, and Glasgow Maryhill Extra. Interested individuals can claim one tree per household on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10 am. Comparable Christmas trees are priced at £13.99 in Aldi and £14.99 in Home Bargains.

Tesco’s UK CEO, Ashwin Prasad, emphasized embracing imperfect moments during the holiday season. A recent Tesco survey revealed that 24% of Brits typically decorate their Christmas trees on the second weekend of December. Despite this, 87% believe Christmas doesn’t have to be flawless to be special, with 74% expressing that imperfect moments define the holiday spirit.

In other news, Tesco is offering Clubcard members double points for every £1 spent on gift cards throughout December. This promotion applies to all third-party gift card purchases in Tesco stores, automatically crediting double points to Clubcard accounts. With approximately 24 million Clubcard members, the scheme extends to groceries, fuel purchases, Tesco Mobile expenses, Tesco credit card transactions, and Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card usage. Accumulated points can be redeemed for vouchers starting at 150 points, each valued at £1.50 for Tesco purchases.
