A detective from the New York Police Department (NYPD) was reported to have attended the Ryder Cup golf tournament wearing full tactical gear, asserting that he was providing security for President Trump, despite being on sick leave. Detective Melvin Eng, who now faces administrative charges for theft of services, was exposed when he inadvertently dropped his gun magazine in front of real security personnel, according to law enforcement sources and NYPD records.

An experienced officer expressed disappointment over the situation, stating to the New York Post, “You’re out sick, so what are you doing at the Ryder Cup? That’s not acceptable. It’s theft of services because he entered for free and falsely claimed he was working for Donald Trump.”

Eng, 46, the president of the NYPD Asian Jade Society, allegedly arrived at the Bethpage Black event in Farmingdale, New York, dressed in full tactical gear, asserting he was on security duty for the visiting president. His false claim granted him access to the prestigious tournament until his slip-up led to his removal. Subsequently, Eng was suspended on Monday as per NYPD documentation.

Concerns were raised by another police source regarding the potential threat posed by Eng’s actions: “What if he intended to cause harm? He made it in with his weapon, bypassing the Secret Service and state police.”

When contacted by a journalist, Eng abruptly ended the call with a brief, “I’m sorry, I gotta go.”

The President of the United States, known for his love of golf and hailing from New York City, attended the Ryder Cup to support his home country, arriving via Air Force One. Despite a strong start by Team Europe, they managed to secure a convincing victory over the US team led by Keegan Bradley.

In a celebratory moment, Team Europe players filmed a video message for Trump, with Rory McIlroy holding the camera as they sang, “Are you watching, Donald Trump?” Captain Luke Donald then displayed the Ryder Cup to the camera. Trump acknowledged the message on Truth Social, responding, “Yes I’m watching. Congratulations.”
