A young woman, identified as Laken Snelling, reportedly consumed food from a McDonald’s outlet inside her vehicle shortly after delivering a baby boy in her dorm room on a university campus. Tragically, the newborn was found deceased in a trash bag hidden in her closet by her roommates. Snelling, a former cheerleader at the University of Kentucky, is now facing serious charges including abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and concealing the birth.

According to court documents, the incident took place in the early hours of August 27, with Snelling giving birth around 4 am. Her roommates reported hearing loud noises coming from her room during that time. Snelling allegedly admitted to the police that she passed out after being awake for about thirty minutes post-delivery, unintentionally falling asleep on top of the newborn. Upon waking up, she noticed the baby turning blue and purple, leading her to assume the infant had died. She then wrapped the baby in a manner described as being similar to a burrito for comfort and placed him on the floor.

Subsequently, Snelling reportedly fell asleep again and woke up at 7:30 am, when she decided to move the baby and placenta into a black trash bag, which she placed in her closet. She later informed her roommates that the noise they had heard was due to her passing out. After leaving the dorm, Snelling ordered food from McDonald’s and picked it up before heading to a student clinic without entering the facility.

Upon her return, her roommates discovered evidence of childbirth in her room, prompting them to contact emergency services. When Snelling arrived back at the dorm, she was taken into custody by the authorities. Further investigations revealed that Snelling had conducted online searches related to pregnancy, labor, and concealing a pregnancy.

During a visit to a medical facility, Snelling mentioned hearing the baby whimper, indicating she believed the baby was alive. Medical staff confirmed that the baby appeared to be full-term upon examination. Snelling pleaded not guilty to the charges against her during a court hearing and later waived her right to a preliminary hearing. She is currently out on bond but has been placed under house arrest.
