BBC Radio 2 host Vernon Kay recently shared a regret from his wedding day, where he tied the knot with Strictly Come Dancing co-presenter Tess Daly over twenty years ago. Kay mentioned that not capturing their wedding on video is a decision that still haunts him. He expressed his remorse during his Radio 2 show, admitting that at the time, they opted against hiring a videographer due to cost concerns. Reflecting on this choice now, Kay expressed disappointment at not having a visual record of their special day.
The couple first met unexpectedly at a BBC Christmas event in 2001 when they were both starting their careers. Just two years later, in 2003, they got married. Their family grew with the birth of their eldest daughter, Phoebe, in October 2003, followed by their second daughter, Amber, six years later.
Vernon and Tess, who have been together for more than two decades, are known as one of the enduring couples in showbiz. Tess praised Vernon for being a supportive father and husband, emphasizing the importance of cherishing family moments.
In their professional lives, Vernon has achieved success as a radio presenter, taking over the mid-morning slot on BBC Radio 2 in 2023. Tess transitioned from modeling to television, eventually landing her role as a co-host on Strictly Come Dancing in 2004. Their paths crossed professionally on BBC One’s Just the Two of Us three years after Tess joined Strictly.
The couple’s personal and professional lives have flourished over the years, with both enjoying significant achievements in their respective careers.
