A mother has welcomed a remarkable newborn baby weighing close to 13 pounds, setting a new record. Shelby Martin shared photos of herself with a prominent baby bump and her newborn son Cassian, who has gained widespread attention on social media and even appeared on a local news channel in Nashville, Tennessee.

Photos taken at the hospital before delivery showed Shelby smiling with a caption joking about the size of her baby, followed by an image of Cassian shortly after birth, weighing 12 pounds and 14 ounces.

The local television station, WSMV, featured a picture of Cassian at Tristar Centennial Women’s Hospital, highlighting him as the largest baby born there in the past three years. Adding to the uniqueness, Shelby gave birth to Cassian on her own birthday, referring to him as her “greatest gift.”

The images have garnered over four million likes on TikTok with 35 million views, with many viewers expressing amazement at the newborn’s size and humorously commenting on his adult-like proportions.

Comments on the viral post included humorous remarks about the baby’s size and the challenges of giving birth to such a large infant. Concerns were also raised about Shelby’s well-being and the baby’s health due to his size.

Cassian’s grandmother shared on Instagram that he required monitoring in the NICU after birth due to potential glucose level issues common in unusually large newborns. Despite the initial concerns, a later update showed Cassian doing well in the hospital, with his grandmother expressing joy over his progress.
