The popular television series “The Traitors” is a yearly must-watch for me, regardless of my professional duties. Since its inception, I have been captivated by the show and consistently found myself rooting for the Traitors to emerge victorious.
Memorable moments like Mollie’s betrayal by Harry in the second season and Wilf’s near miss in the first season have left a lasting impact on me. Even in the recent season, I harbored high hopes for Charlotte, considering her as one of the most exceptional Traitors to date.
However, my loyalty to the Traitors as a whole wavered in the latest season. The finale saw both Stephen and Rachel being declared joint winners, a decision that left me deeply disappointed. Stephen, who had the chance to make strategic moves, ultimately chose to remain loyal, leading to an unexpected outcome.
The sudden shift from treachery to loyalty among the Traitors in the crucial moments resulted in what I believe to be the most unsatisfactory conclusion in the show’s history. The potential for a dramatic turn of events, similar to the Harry and Mollie incident from a previous season, was lost.
The latest season failed to engage me as much as the previous ones did. Even the introduction of the Secret Traitor concept fell short, lacking the intrigue and suspense of past twists like the Seer. The lack of tension between Rachel and Stephen further contributed to the season’s underwhelming narrative.
As a fan of the show, my concern lies in the predictability that arises with increased familiarity. To maintain its impact, the show’s creators must consider significant changes for its upcoming fifth season. The essence of betrayal needs to be upheld, a quality that seemed lacking in the recent winners who displayed unwavering loyalty.
