A young woman, previously a cheerleader at the University of Kentucky, is facing serious charges after her flatmates made a disturbing discovery while she was out picking up a McDonald’s order. Laken Snelling, 21, is accused of abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant.

According to court documents, Snelling gave birth to a baby boy in her bedroom early in the morning of August 27th. Her flatmates heard noises from her room and later found the newborn dead in a wardrobe. Snelling admitted to police that she had passed out after giving birth and woke up to find the baby in distress.

Allegedly, Snelling wrapped the baby in a towel and placed it on the floor next to her before falling asleep again. When she woke up, she placed the baby and the placenta in a bag and hid them in her wardrobe. Her flatmates eventually discovered the evidence of childbirth and alerted authorities.

Police later found that Snelling had made online searches related to pregnancy and had deleted images of herself in labor from her phone. Despite her claims of not guilty, authorities believe she attempted to conceal evidence of the pregnancy and birth.

During a court appearance, Snelling waived her right to a preliminary hearing and is currently out on bail under house arrest. The case continues to unfold as investigations into the tragic incident progress.
