Users of various devices, including Samsung models, have encountered screen flickering issues while using the Gmail app. Some users have reported text disappearing or being replaced by blank white boxes within their emails.

Expressing their frustrations, Gmail users have taken to social media platforms to voice their concerns. One user named Jeremiah complained about the flickering problem on his Samsung Fold device, calling it “completely unacceptable.”

Similar grievances have surfaced on Google’s support forums, with one user detailing attempts to resolve the problem to no avail, despite force-stopping the app, clearing the cache, and restarting the tablet.

Google product expert Kimiya Kitani attributed the problem to Android System WebView, a crucial component enabling apps to display web content within their interface. Kitani mentioned that certain devices, particularly Samsung tablets, are experiencing intermittent issues with Android System WebView, which has been reported to Google for resolution.

While the exact number of affected users remains uncertain, it appears that Samsung foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Fold series and specific Galaxy tablets are among the most impacted.

As a temporary solution, Kitani recommended rotating the device as a workaround to alleviate the flickering issue. By opening the email in portrait mode, rotating the device to landscape mode until the screen stabilizes, and then switching back to portrait mode, users may mitigate the problem.

In the interim, this rotating method seems to be the easiest fix available until Google releases a permanent solution.
