Authorities reported that Russian air strikes in Kyiv and its surrounding area resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals and left several others wounded early on Tuesday, marking the sixth consecutive day of assaults on the Ukrainian capital. Russia, which initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, has intensified its aerial attacks against Ukraine in recent months, particularly as its progress on the battlefield has significantly slowed.
Over the past five days, Kyiv and its neighboring regions have been plagued by swarms of drones causing casualties, destruction of homes, and warehouses. The majority of these drones are advanced versions equipped with jet engines, making interception more challenging. The continuous attacks have disrupted the daily lives of millions, with prolonged air-raid alerts becoming a regular occurrence.
Additional explosions were heard in Kyiv on Tuesday morning, as reported by a witness from Reuters. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the overnight strikes involved Russian drones and ballistic missiles targeting residential areas and railway infrastructure.
Sybiha urged Ukraine’s allies to impose greater economic pressure on Russia and consider utilizing Russia’s frozen assets abroad to provide financial support for Ukraine’s defense efforts. He emphasized the need for increased air defense support for Ukraine, as the country is facing a critical shortage of U.S.-made Patriot interceptors capable of countering Russia’s ballistic missiles.

Reports indicated that eight individuals, mostly railway workers, lost their lives in overnight attacks in Kyiv. Mayor Vitali Klitschko mentioned that on Tuesday morning, three more individuals were injured in a daytime drone strike that caused a fire at a high-rise apartment complex. In Boryspil, situated just outside Kyiv, four individuals were killed and 13 others were wounded in an attack targeting a residential building and other locations, according to Governor Tymur Tkachenko on Telegram. Among the casualties outside Kyiv was an Indian citizen.
Yevhen Zavhorodniy, a resident in Boryspil, described the aftermath of the attack, pointing out the impact on his surroundings. He expressed gratitude for the safety of his family despite the destruction caused.
The Russian strikes also impacted a border crossing with NATO-member Romania in the Black Sea region of Odesa, leaving thousands of families without electricity, as stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As Western intelligence warns about a planned escalation in Ukraine, Russian airstrikes have killed at least 12 people in Kyiv over six days. Meanwhile
