The 49-year-old mother-of-one turned to social media to share a photo without a top as she lamented the fading sunny days. Wearing black bikini bottoms and strategically covering her bare chest with a phone, Martine posted on her Instagram, asking her followers to take her back to the sun and sea.
In her Instagram Story, the Love Actually star exclaimed, “This lady needs her vitamin D,” and accompanied her message with a series of summer-themed emojis.
Martine has faced challenges this year, including going through a divorce from her husband of 18 years, Jack McManus, and experiencing financial difficulties leading to bankruptcy for the second time. Additionally, her estranged mother, Jenny Tomlin, publicly expressed her desire for a reunion with Martine after a family tragedy caused a strain in their relationship.
Their bond started to fracture following the tragic death of Martine’s brother, Laurence John, in 2022. In an emotional interview with OK! Magazine, Jenny took responsibility for the breakdown between her and Martine, revealing that her emotional breakdown led her to push her daughter away. Jenny expressed her longing for the moments of laughter and connection they used to share.
Despite efforts to mend their relationship, including a reunion last year when Martine sought Jenny’s help with home renovations, their interactions have been strained. Jenny continues to reach out to Martine through various means but has received no response.
Earlier this year, Martine faced financial challenges, being declared bankrupt due to a debt to a finance company. This financial setback came shortly after the end of her long-term marriage to Jack, with whom she shares a 10-year-old son named Rafferty.
Martine’s financial struggles are not new, as she previously faced bankruptcy in 2013 before stabilizing her finances. Her separation from Jack was announced last year, following their decision to sell their home.
