John Tory, the past mayor of Toronto, has been appointed as the new head of the board of directors for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Tory expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with TIFF’s board, leaders, artists, and filmmakers to influence the organization’s future direction. His tenure commences on October 1, coinciding with this year’s festival dates of September 10 to 20. He succeeds Jeffrey Remedios, who held the position since 2021 and commended TIFF and its leadership, stating his enduring pride in contributing to the festival’s progress.

Additionally, TIFF disclosed the addition of three new board members: Deborah Flint, David Furnish, and Daniel Tisch Echevarría, while acknowledging the departure of Asha Daniere after nine years of service. The organization conveyed its gratitude to Daniere for her dedicated contributions over the years.
