Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill is set to team up with Kevin Sinfield in Sheffield as part of his ongoing efforts to support Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research. Ennis-Hill, a Sheffield resident, will run alongside Sinfield in the fourth leg of his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge.

Sinfield, who kicked off his latest endeavor on Monday, aims to complete an ultra marathon each day for a week. This marks Sinfield’s sixth consecutive year of fundraising for MND charities, having already raised over £10 million. The funds have notably contributed to the establishment of a pioneering center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.

The inspiration for Sinfield’s charitable work stems from his former teammate and close friend Rob Burrow’s MND diagnosis. Ennis-Hill, a renowned heptathlon champion and three-time world title holder, is lending her support to Sinfield’s cause, adding significant visibility to raising awareness about MND.

Since retiring from her athletic career in 2016, Ennis-Hill has transitioned into a successful media role and has become a patron of various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.

Sinfield remains committed to finding a cure for MND, emphasizing the ongoing need for advocacy. Recent news of England World Cup winner Lewis Moody’s MND diagnosis further underscores the urgency of continued support. Moody is planning a charity dinner in April and hopes to organize a charity bike ride in 2026.

After completing the Sheffield leg of his challenge, Sinfield will proceed to Cumbria, Scotland, and conclude the series in Leeds on Sunday. For more information on the challenge, visit: https://www.therhinos.co.uk/the-club/sinfield-together-2025.
