Passengers at London Stansted Airport faced significant delays following an evacuation caused by a fire earlier this morning. The airport, known for its Jet2, Ryanair, and TUI Airways flights, suspended departures as emergency services dealt with a small blaze in the Escape Lounge around 3.30am.

Although the fire was swiftly brought under control, the departure area didn’t reopen until 6am. Despite the resumption of operations, passengers encountered delays due to a backlog, prompting many to share their experiences on social media.

Images circulating online depicted crowded check-in areas and multiple fire engines at the Essex airport. Passengers expressed frustration over the lack of communication and disruptions to their travel plans caused by the incident.

London Stansted Airport later confirmed on social media that the departure lounge was open and passengers were being processed through security, albeit with longer waiting times. While flights were not canceled, some services experienced delays, with passengers advised to check with their respective airlines for updates.

The airport thanked passengers for their understanding as safety measures were implemented before allowing them to re-enter the terminal.
