An Israeli military operation in the central Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, a three-year-old child named Tayyem Hamdan and a man identified as Hussam Nusair, Gaza health officials reported on Sunday. The strike, which occurred near a bakery in Deir al-Balah, also left several others injured.
According to Gaza medics, the Israeli military targeted and killed a Hamas militant, alleging that Nusair was involved in previous attacks against Israeli civilians and forces. Hamas has not yet responded to these claims.
Despite a ceasefire brokered with U.S. support last October to reduce major hostilities in the region, Israeli military actions have continued, citing the need to prevent Hamas and other Gaza militants from launching attacks. Hamas accuses Israel of breaching the ceasefire agreement and obstructing the implementation of a wider peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which includes steps such as Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.
Since the ceasefire came into effect last October, over 1,300 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza, as reported by Gazan health officials. In contrast, the Israeli military has confirmed the deaths of four Israeli soldiers during the same period.
