Gail’s bakery chain has announced that ten of its stores will be open for business on Christmas Day. Additionally, the company will be offering complimentary mince pies to customers visiting these locations on December 25. All Gail’s bakeries will maintain regular operating hours on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

Through an Instagram post, Gail’s expressed that some of their bakeries will be available for those seeking a cozy spot for coffee, bread, or a friendly face on Christmas morning. They plan to share a mince pie with visitors as a token of appreciation for spending part of their day at Gail’s, while supplies last.

In other news, Gail’s disclosed intentions to launch 40 new stores across England, expanding beyond London. The company recently introduced 36 cafes in the previous fiscal year, including their first outlets in the south-west region of England. The upcoming 40 stores are expected to open by the end of February 2026.

Financially, Gail’s reported a revenue of £278 million for the fiscal year ending in February 2025, marking a 20% increase from the prior year. However, pre-tax losses rose to £7.8 million due to expenses associated with business operations and staff recruitment for new stores. Gail’s workforce expanded to over 4,000 employees by the end of February, with a significant recruitment drive contributing to the increase.

Gail’s also operates a wholesale division that supplies baked goods to various supermarkets like Waitrose and Ocado. The company’s sourdough loaf is priced starting at approximately £4.80, with the retail segment being identified as the fastest-growing and most profitable sector within the organization.

A company spokesperson expressed satisfaction with the growth achieved, attributing it to the rising demand for high-quality, nutrient-rich food and the support of local communities. They emphasized a commitment to further expansion while focusing on providing top-notch food offerings in appealing neighborhood bakery settings.
