EE has unveiled an enhanced version of its Scam Guard service in response to the escalating threat of scams in the UK. The upgrade, available to all EE pay-monthly mobile customers for a monthly fee of £2, aims to provide improved protection against cybercriminals who target individuals for sensitive information.

Since its inception in 2024, the Scam Guard service has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the latest upgrade, EE anticipates doubling this figure over the next year. The centerpiece of the new Scam Guard is the AI Triple-Lock Protection system, which comprises three key features powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine.

The enhanced service includes Safe Email, offering proactive scam protection for email accounts round-the-clock. Safe SMS utilizes advanced AI technology to detect and prevent sophisticated scams in text messages, ensuring customers’ peace of mind. Additionally, Safe Web safeguards users while browsing or shopping online by preemptively blocking malicious websites.

Furthermore, the upgraded Scam Guard introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to seek instant guidance by uploading screenshots of suspicious content. Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring functionalities are also integrated to identify and alert users of any questionable activity online.

Malcolm Cubitt, EE’s Director of Product for Mobile, emphasized the importance of adapting to combat evolving fraudulent practices. He highlighted EE’s commitment to customer security through continuous innovation and investment in cybersecurity measures. The enhanced Scam Guard service underscores EE’s dedication to providing top-tier protection in the face of increasing cyber threats.
