Renowned comedian Tommy Cannon expressed disappointment towards ITV for excluding him and his partner Bobby Ball from the network’s 70-year anniversary celebrations. The duo, known as Cannon and Ball, had successful shows on ITV, such as The Cannon and Ball Show that aired for nine years from 1979 to 1988. Despite their contributions, none of their programs were included in ITV’s anniversary lineup on itvX.

In a tweet, Cannon emphasized their significant contribution to ITV over the years and how being overlooked was disheartening, particularly for Ball, their fans, and their comedic legacy. Ball, who passed away in October 2020 due to COVID-19, had a strong following, with fans expressing their support and disappointment on social media platforms.

Fans praised Cannon and Ball for their talent and the joy they brought to audiences of all ages. Their comedy was cherished by many, with one fan reminiscing about watching the duo with family and acknowledging their enduring impact on British comedy.

Cannon and Ball also participated in the fifth season of the popular ITV show “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” in 2005. Despite their past collaborations with ITV, their absence from the anniversary celebrations raised eyebrows among fans.

ITV, in its anniversary statement, highlighted its commitment to providing quality and entertaining television for the past 70 years. Viewers were invited to explore a curated selection of classic content on ITVX, showcasing the network’s rich history and iconic shows.

As ITV commemorates its milestone, the exclusion of Cannon and Ball from the anniversary festivities has sparked conversations among fans about the duo’s impact on British comedy and their rightful place in ITV’s history.
