Celine Dion, a renowned Grammy and Juno award-winning artist and musical legend, is now being honored with a special Barbie doll by toy giant Mattel. However, some fans have expressed dissatisfaction with the doll’s resemblance to the celebrated Canadian singer.

Mattel unveiled the Celine Dion doll as part of its prestigious Barbie Signature Series, which features collectible dolls paying tribute to notable figures from various fields like fashion, arts, and sports. Past releases in this series have included dolls inspired by Miley Cyrus, Whitney Houston, Marilyn Monroe, Venus and Serena Williams, and Dr. Jane Goodall.

The limited-edition Celine Dion doll captures her iconic look from the 1998 Academy Awards, where she performed the hit song “My Heart Will Go On” from the movie “Titanic,” which won the award for Best Original Song. In a statement, Dion expressed her gratitude for being immortalized with a Barbie doll inspired by a significant moment in her career.

Despite the doll’s homage to Dion’s performance, some fans took to social media to express disappointment over the doll’s resemblance, which is priced at $90. While appreciating the tribute, fans pointed out the doll’s face did not quite capture the essence of the beloved singer.

The doll’s unveiling sparked mixed reactions, with some fans suggesting the doll bore a closer resemblance to actress Lisa Rinna or Princess Diana rather than Celine Dion. However, the doll’s design remains a nod to the emotional performance that won Dion an Oscar.

In recent news, Celine Dion made a triumphant return to the stage with a series of highly anticipated concerts at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, Europe’s largest indoor concert venue. This marked her first live performance in six years after battling stiff person syndrome, a neurological autoimmune disorder causing pain and muscle stiffness.

Dion’s comeback concert series follows her brief appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games closing ceremony. Despite her health challenges, the singer’s return to performing has been met with overwhelming support from fans eagerly awaiting her return to the spotlight.

The limited-edition Celine Dion Barbie doll is now available for collectors and fans to celebrate the iconic singer’s enduring legacy on stage and beyond.
