Renowned actor Tim Curry recently shared details about his encounter with Donald Trump on the set of the 1992 film Home Alone 2. At that time, Trump was known as a wealthy New York business figure, not involved in politics or reality TV.
In his memoir ‘Vagabond: A Memoir,’ released almost three decades after the movie’s premiere, Curry discussed Trump’s behavior at The Plaza Hotel, which he owned. Trump was eager for his then-partner, Marla Maples, to meet the director, Chris Columbus, claiming she was a talented actress.
Curry recalled a humorous incident where he misled Trump’s wife, Ivana, about her interior decorating choices at the hotel. Despite these anecdotes, Curry is not the only one from the Home Alone 2 team to comment on Trump’s appearance in the film, which was a major box office success.
Director Chris Columbus, famous for the Harry Potter series, expressed regret over including Trump in the movie, calling it a burden he wishes to erase. He mentioned concerns about potential repercussions, especially after Trump’s re-election, citing possible backlash from the administration against critics.
Columbus humorously suggested he might need to flee to Italy if he removed the scene featuring Trump. These comments came amidst tensions between Hollywood figures and Trump’s supporters, with clashes over political stances and public statements.
