Dwight Yorke said comments about Peter Andre and Harvey ‘stuck in his throat’

Must read

Dwight Yorke once admitted he wanted to “throttle” Peter Andre when he said he wanted to adopt his son Harvey Price. The former footballer, who is estranged from 22-year-old Harvey from his relationship with ex, Katie Price, had insisted he loved Harvey from the ‘moment he was born’, despite Katie claiming he “didn’t give a s**t” about their son.

When Mysterious Girl star Pete, 51, married Katie, 46, he spoke about possibly adopting Harvey – who is now, sadly, dealing with life-threatening obesity. Over the years Katie has accused Dwight, 53, of not being there for their son. However, while admitting he could have done more for Harvey, Dwight claimed it was the former glamour model who restricted his access in a bombshell chapter from his autobiography.

Writing in Born to Score, he claimed Katie’s digs about his relationship with Harvey ‘stuck in his throat’. He wrote: “From the moment I set eyes on the little fella, I have loved my son like I could never ever have imagined possible. I am not going to hear anymore that I did not care for Harvey, or have any understanding of his needs or that I was not interested in his welfare.

“Over the years I have heard Katie saying how [Peter] Andre is Harvey’s dad and what a terrible, uncaring father I have been, all of which sticks in my throat. Maybe if she had not made life so difficult for me, might have been able to take a far more proactive role.”

Katie’s former husband Peter had wanted to adopt Harvey, leaving Dwight admitting he wanted to “throttle” the singer. There was much bitterness on both sides of the model’s relationship with the footballer, with Dwight reportedly asking for a paternity test, only acknowledging he was Harvey’s father when the test returned positive.

In her autobiography, Katie claimed Dwight told her he didn’t want to be in Harvey’s life when he was 10. She wrote: “Dwight actually spoke to Harvey over the phone on his tenth birthday. My mum had organised it with his manager. To be honest, I was shocked that it happened.

“But I think Dwight was even more shocked when Harvey asked him, ‘When am I seeing you?’ The last time I saw Dwight was in 2012, when I met up with him at a restaurant in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, to speak about Harvey and what Harvey had said on the phone.”

“Even after he said that, I was still trying to be persistent. I wanted Harvey to have his dad in his life, but he just wasn’t interested in any of it. ‘This isn’t about me. This is your son and your flesh and blood.”

Katie continued: “But he just didn’t give a s**t. There’s only so much you can try before you realise you’re flogging a dead horse. I got up and left and that’s the last time I saw him. I haven’t heard from him since.”

Peter, meanwhile, took a significant role in Harvey‘s life when he married his mum, Katie. When they met on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! the then mum-of-one was raising Harvey as a single parent.

Despite not legally adopting Harvey, Peter had a close bond with Harvey and said he felt like a father figure, revealing that Katie’s “best boy” even referred to him as ‘Daddy.’

Following his divorce from Katie, Peter is said to have remained close to Harvey for some time. The Aussie described himself as having been like a “real father”, before he had kids of his own, previously saying: “I have been a real father of Harvey and he calls me Daddy.”
