Bluey fans are only just spotting hidden detail that appears in every episode

Must read

Bluey enthusiasts are just spotting a ‘hidden’ Easter egg in the beloved TV show that fans believe appears in every episode. The animated series, adored by children and grown-ups alike, has racked up a staggering 55.62billion minutes viewed on Disney+ at the time of writing.

Despite its extensive run of 154 episodes, it’s only now that some eagle-eyed fans have noted a sneaky detail lurking in the backdrops. The discovery led a Reddit user to post on the r/bluey thread: “is this an Easter egg? I was babysitting the little one giving him a dose of Bluey.”

They continued with their observation: “I saw what seems to be another dog under the bush in born yesterday after bandit ate a bite of his pie.

“Who is this dog and is this an Easter egg I found but too slow to figure it out?” In the specific scene, there is a brown dog sleeping under a tree while the main characters, Bluey and Bingo, steal the spotlight.

Chiming in with an answer, one fellow Redditor said: “It’s a long dog. They’re hidden in nearly every episode, so yes, it’s an Easter egg.”

Another added: “There’s a tennis ball in each ep, too. Both items every time.”

“These are called ‘Long Dogs,'” said a third. “There is one hidden in every episode of Bluey! And in Bluey’s Big Play and Bluey’s World theme park in Australia, they have them hidden as well in real life. It’s a very cute, iconic thing for the series for the die hard fans.”

One avid enthusiast also shared: “Yup, finding the Long Dog in every room at Bluey’s World was my goal – and I think I managed to do it (no spoilers!).”

Bluey fans are in for a treat, as it turns out that every single episode of the hit children’s TV show features a sneaky cameo from a character dubbed ‘Long Dog’. Acting as an Easter egg — a term used for hidden references in media — the Long Dog has become a game for avid viewers to spot throughout the series.

According to the Bluey Wiki, the statement explains: “The name Long Dog is a possible derivative of Longcat. The first official acknowledgement of this Easter egg happened on the official Bluey X (formerly Twitter) account, on February 15th, 2022.”

It also notes that certain Long Dogs are consistently present. “Some long dogs appear consistently throughout many episodes, such as the Magnet dog on the fridge and the brown dog on the top of the Playroom shelf, making them look like normal objects.”

Social media is abuzz with fans discussing their Long Dog hunts, with one user declaring: “Welcome to long dogs, where you stop paying attention to the show and only pay attention to where these darn things are!”

The excitement is shared by many, as another fan confessed: “Yes! My family is obsessed with watching until we find them. We’ve only got a few episodes left where we haven’t spotted long dog!”

One enthusiast couldn’t contain their passion, saying: “I started a whole board of Bluey Easter eggs, and once I’m done, I’ll frame them on my wall. And yes, I’m slightly Bluey addicted.”

Lastly, capturing the thrill of discovery, a parent revealed: “Long Dogs are awesome, and they are everywhere. My daughter found one on the back of the Bluey cereal box this morning.”
