Former BBC TV doctor Aivar Bracka has been accused of sexually assaulting a young man and forcing him to watch pornography during a consultation, a court heard. The 73-year-old has been charged with four counts of indecent assault and one count of indecent assault against a child, aged 14 or under.

The medical professional is alleged to have carried out his abuse over the period of six years between 1994 and 2000 when he was working as a consultant at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley, West Mids. While working at the hospital, the surgeon also appeared on the BBC documentary, Trust Me – I’m A Doctor.

It was during his time at the hospital he allegedly groped a young boy, Wolverhampton Crown Court has heard. Giving evidence via video link, the man said that ht was “touched” by the doctor. “I know when someone is gripping my penis,” he added. The victim continued: “It never left my mind after it happened and has never left my mind since.

“He pulled out this East German style pornography and told me to get an erection in five minutes. This stuff repulsed me. I was a young man, used to seeing online pornography. But this stuff was from the 1970s and was disgusting. It all felt so weird. I felt under pressure.”

He added that he had just a “nanosecond to process and a lifetime to analyse” what he had endured at the hands of Bracka. He went on to say that he often “froze” and “looked away and tried not to cry” during his consultations with him. The jury at the court heard that another victim of Bracka’s who was a child during the assaults has since died due to drugs and alcohol.

He was first examined by the doctor without his parents in the room at the age of 12. The man claimed that Bracker had sexually assaulted him during this consultation and it happened again three years later when he was just 15.

A second complainant informed the court that Bracker had undressed during one consultation. He added that he sat down, naked, and placed his penis on the complainant’s thigh. Wolverhampton Crown Court heard that Bracka had worked as a consultant at the hospital until 2010 when he was struck off by the General Medical Council. At the time of being struck off for indecently assaulting six patients, he denied the allegations. However, the GMC ruled that his actions were sexually motivated, improper and inappropriate.

The former doctor of Wordsley, West Mids, denies all five allegations against him. The trial continues.
