Mum praised for ‘genius’ hack to quickly double fridge space for Easter

Must read

Easter is a time when many families get together, crack open some chocolate, maybe participate in an Easter egg hunt, and tuck into a hearty lamb roast dinner.

But while the festive traditions may be fun, preparing for the roast dinner feast can take up some serious fridge space.

But one mum has been praised for her pretty nifty trick for almost doubling her fridge space ahead of the busy weekend – and all you need are the racks from your oven.

The US-based busy mum took to Facebook to share her hack, where she said she simply uses her oven cooling racks to help maximise her fridge space.

In total, the mum managed to transform her fridge into a five-tier beast, allowing her to stack bowls and containers on top of one another with ease. Her post, which was initially shared to promote extra fridge space over Christmas, read: “Remember to use your cooling racks for extra space around the holidays.”

If you don’t have any oven racks to spare, you can always use baking trays or chopping boards, or even cooling racks that you would normally use to help cakes cool down after they’ve been cooked. You can also move the existing shelves around to make room for more food, and the make-do oven rack dividers.

But make sure that all of your containers are properly covered first so as not to contaminate anything underneath.

Many Facebook users praised her for sharing the handy tip, as they said it would make Christmas prep so much easier. One said, “That is an awesome idea!”

Another added: “How didn’t I think of this before? Genius.” A third shocked responder said they couldn’t believe they’d never thought of the idea themselves.
