Easter Sunday will be mostly dominated by sun, weather experts have said, but Brits should be on the lookout for some downpours. The Met Office has said in its forecast for Sunday that Brits on Easter egg hunts can expert some “warm spells” in some areas.
In their latest report, forecasters said: “Rain will die out in the northwest during Easter Sunday. Elsewhere some warm spells of hazy sunshine, though a scattering of showers likely across southern England and south Wales.” The BBC had a similar outlook, with “mainly dry and sunny spells” forecast and potential highs of 17C in Manchester, 15C in London and 10C in Edinburgh at around 4pm.
“There will be a few showers in south England, north-west Scotland and Northern Ireland,” the BBC said. “A milder day for most.”
The Met Office’s outlook for Monday to Wednesday next week said there would be some sunshine, but also warned of “heavy showers affecting many areas on Easter Monday”. Scotland will be “mostly fine”.
Weather experts added: “The mix of sunshine and showers continues during Tuesday and Wednesday. Feeling warm in sunshine though.”
The BBC said that the same period could also see “thundery” episodes “particularly in south England”. “Tuesday is expected to be largely cloudy with further showers, but the south may see sunny spells,” it said. “Wednesday will start cloudy with a few showers. It will become increasingly dry and bright through the day.”
In its forecast for April 24 to May 3, the Met Office said the beginning of this period will be “mainly dry across the UK”. It added: “Some light rain or showers are possible across southern and western areas, but other regions will be brighter with spells of sunshine.
“Into the weekend, this is likely to be little change with most areas fine and dry. Parts of the west and southwest are likely to be cloudier with a risk of some patchy rain or drizzle. Into the final days of April and start of May, high pressure is likely to be the dominant weather pattern.
“Fine and dry weather is expected for the majority of the UK with periods of sunshine. Winds are likely to be light with temperatures close to or slightly above normal.”
Early predictions for May 4 to May 18 said: “Often fine and dry across the UK in early May with high pressure patterns expected to dominate. Toward the middle of the month, there is an increasing chance of showers or longer spells of rain developing. Temperatures are expected to be close to or slightly above average.”
