Mark Wright kicked off his regular Heart FM show with Olly Murs by declaring “It’s Easter weekend, baby“, stressing the last word and prompting co-presenter Olly to respond: “I see what you did there.”
Mark was referring to last night’s announcement from Olly and his wife Amelia that they are expecting their second child. Speaking to Mark on the show, a still-delighted Olly said it has “been a week,” and added that the news had come as something of a shock, before emotionally sharing: “We just want to grow our little family.”
He explained to the Mark, who recently became a dad for the first time with wife Michelle Keegan: “You know you have those weeks where you just can’t tell anyone? And it’s been really exciting news for us both, a shock, we didn’t expect it to happen this quick, but amazing!”
Mark was full of supportive words for Olly, saying that he and Amelia have been “the best parents ever” to their daughter Madi, and the fact that they will be giving her a little sibling is “just sensational.”
The news broke after Olly, 40, posted an intimate family video to Instagram that showed Amelia and himself walking with one-year-old daughter Madison. As Olly lifted up his little girl and put her on his shoulders, the words “Big Sis” could be seen on the back of her top.
“We’re so egg-cited to share this..… Another Baby Murs on the way,” he wrote. To confirm the news, Amelia revealed a set of baby scans.
Olly told Mark that it had been hard to contain his excitement, but added that he was completely thrilled, and it felt like the right time to announce their news this weekend.
Olly will be off on tour soon, he said, but Amelia is doing very well at the moment. While he said there would inevitably be a few sleepless nights, he exclaimed: “It’s going to be mad, having a little brother or sister for Madison.”
“Times have changed” he added, “but in a good way.”
The announcement came just days after the couple had celebrated Madison’s first birthday. To mark the occasion, they posted a series of heartwarming photos of the big day.
They first announced baby Madison’s birth on April 16, 2024 after revealing they were to be parents back in December 2023, just five months after the couple tied the knot on July 15, 2023.
To celebrate her birthday, the Troublemaker singer took to Instagram to share some adorable images and clips of her first year. He captioned the reel: “Can’t believe our Madi is 1 today.”
Among the images was spectacular birthday cake for the little girl. Amelia had also shared a sweet post on her own account. She uploaded an image of the pair shortly after she gave birth and captioned it: “When you and your best friend make your own mini best friend.
“Can’t believe this was a year ago, it’s gone so quick but has been full of special moments and memories, so excited for the adventure of year two with our Madi Moos.”
