Tourist’s ‘genius’ hack means you never have to suffer sandy feet at beach again

Must read

With the much-awaited summer months finally in sight, holidaymakers will be heading to the beachside to get a dose of vitamin-sea in throngs. Because let’s be honest — there’s nothing quite like a day at the beach, be it with friends, family, or simply alone.

The feeling of kicking back and relaxing as the salty ocean air caresses your face is unmatched and few joys come close to sipping an exotic beverage while your toes dig into the cool sand – until it’s time to leave. Then that cool sand quickly leads to hot tempers as everything becomes sandy, painful, and oh-so-uncomfortable.

As far as holiday pet-peeves go, feeling your skin chafe and getting a painfully unwanted exfoliation ranks pretty high on the list for otherwise excited travellers. The sand (and its seemingly never-ending supply) somehow becomes your greatest nemesis: straight-up impossible to remove, yet omnipresent in its sensation. Luckily, a tourist has shared a ‘genius’ hack for getting around this problem.

Influencer Liz Richards recently posted a video to her Instagram page, @dailyorginalvids, where she revealed a sure-shot way to keep your feet sand-free as soon as you leave the beach.

With an Instagram bio that reads “happy helpful videos shared daily”, Liz shares genius hacks pertaining to everyday life. Her beach hack for sandy feet is one such top tip.

In her video, Liz reveals a beach hack she swears by – always bringing a plastic bag. The clip shows her walking to the sea, filling the bag with water, then heading back to the beach. Holding it up by the handles, she steps inside with her sandy feet.

When she steps out, her feet are totally clean — ready to slip straight into her flip flops. In the caption, she writes: “I fill a plastic bag with water to rinse the sand off my feet before putting my flip flops back on.”

Liz’s video has so far picked up more than 3.5 million views, with one commenter describing the hack as a “good idea”. Another person suggested improving on the hack by bringing baby powder to the beach. They wrote: “Sprinkle it on sandy feet and the sand slides off when you run in it.”

On the other hand, one user claimed they don’t hate sandy feet, especially during vacation. They remarked: “You’re on vacation! Simply let them dry. The sand on my feet is the last thing on my mind when on holiday!”

In a separate instance, yet another viral beach hack shared by a mum has been praised for its ingenuity. In her TikTok video, the mum, known as Lani-thehydefive, shared how valuables can be kept safe while relaxing on the beach.

The clip simply shows Lani wrapping up her car keys and phone in a nappy before leaving it to one side on the sand. Advocating for her hack, the mom influencer wrote: “I mean, who would steal a dirty nappy?”
