Emmerdale’s John Sugden could be exposed by an unlikely person after the soap dropped a huge clue. On last night’s episode of the ITV soap, it was revealed that John had killed Nate whilst trying to save him.
Also in last night’s episode, John’s obsession with saving people came into full effect when he swapped both his and Jacob’s coffees and caused Jacob to have a reaction as he has a severe nut allergy.
When Victoria noticed Jacob was struggling to breathe, she screamed for John’s help and he came running, with her having no idea that he had caused that allergic reaction. As he tried to help Jacob, he urged Victoria to call Liam and an ambulance.
When Liam returned, he was quick to help Jacob. However, it seemed that Liam might be onto John. When Victoria said to John how grateful she was that he had an allergy pen, Liam gave a funny look.
He also seemed puzzled when Jacob had said that he must have mixed up the coffees. Whilst Liam seemed fine with John afterwards and praised him for saving Jacob’s life, could he be onto him?
Speaking about the big scenes, Oliver Farnworth – who plays villain John – said: “I think for me, the exciting thing is that the viewers find out first before anyone else in the village. So it’s kind of like letting them into these big secrets that John’s been harbouring. It’s caused him a lot of stress and anguish having to hide things. I think the fact that the viewers find out first, is going to be really exciting although I’ll see what the backlash is I guess! It was bound to happen at some point, so I’m glad it’s come out now.”
Oliver also warned that there were big scenes ahead – and warned of some “battles” for his character.
“There’s lots of big stuff coming up. I guess with the sort of web that John’s woven for himself in the back of his mind, he’s anticipating people to start being suspicious, secrets to come out and people to start finding things out,” he said.
“He’s probably got a few set pieces prepared in his mind for dealing with all of this, but really what he’s had to do so far is just kind of think on his feet and adapt to situations around him. I’m sure this will all change soon. And the jeopardy at stake for him now is that he’s got his whole life in Emmerdale Village. He’s got the love of his life, Aaron, (Danny Miller), he’s got a family that he never had. He does not want to lose all that, under any circumstances. There’s going to be a few battles ahead, I think.”
