A safety recall notice has been issued for Tower Air Fryers which pose an overheating risk. A small number of the kitchen gadgets reportedly have a manufacturing defect, which could run the risk of causing a fire.
The air fryers, which were sold in stores including Argos, B&M, and Tesco, have been recalled in a notice from The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS). The affected products were manufactured between January 2022 and April 2023.
On Tower’s official website, a statement explains: “The fault has been deemed low risk by Trading Standards, however the safety and well-being of our customers is our top priority, and we have made the decision to voluntarily recall these models as a precautionary measure.”
The Air Fryer models affected by the recall are;
• T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer
• T17061BLK Tower 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer
• T17067 Tower 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer
• T17087 Tower 2Ltr Compact Manual Air Fryer
According to Tower, anyone with one of the above air fryer models should stop using it immediately and check the model number, this will help users identify whether it’s included in the recall.
Their website has a guide to identifying the air fryer model number. After unplugging the device, it can be placed on its side. The product number should be on the appliance rating label which is on the bottom of the gadget.
