Netflix fans have shared their excitement over the ‘best mini series’ that ‘everyone needs to check out’ before it’s too late.
A TV and movie reviewer – known as @Eccyreviews on social media – has ranked the ‘underrated’ Netflix show among the greats – and says it has been hidden between other titles since 2019.
Taking to TikTok, he said: “This is the best limited series that you will ever watch on Netflix and you need to watch it immediately.
“I might be a little bit late to the party but I’ve had so many people tell me that I need to watch it. It is honestly one of the best things I have ever watched.”
He says the show is called When They See Us – and follows the true story of five teenagers from Harlem who find themselves falsely accused of a brutal attack in Central Park.
The devastating American crime drama is split into four episodes, each between an hour and 90 minutes long.
Starring Asante Blackk, Caleel Harris, Ethan Herisse and Marquis Rodriguez, the show has won 34 awards and has received a whopping 78 nominations.
Reviewing it on IMDb, one viewer said: “The acting in this series especially by the kids/young adults really pulled me in.
“I haven’t gotten this emotional watching anything in a long time. The last episode had me in tears multiple [times] and I hope viewers withhold judgment till they see the whole thing.”
Another user said: “Hard to watch and because it feels so real it really makes me sad and angry.”
A third user added: : “Brilliant but very hard to watch. It made me so angry. Fantastic acting from start to finish.”
One more user said: “This is one of the most beautiful and emotional mini series of the year so far.
“Well directed, excellent character building, amazing acting and well scripted. It touches your soul and cries out your heart. Thank you, Netflix!”
Commenting on the recommendation on TikTok, one user said: “OMG yes. When They See Us is a fantastic mini series. Get your tissues ready.”
