‘I’m a fashion writer and my top spring and summer picks from Roman are all under £50’

Must read

When it comes to updating my wardrobe for the warmer weather, I tend to shop smart so I can get the most out of my money, without scrimping on style. To do this, you’ll need to find a fashion brand that offers high quality, trend-led pieces and for me this year, Roman is a winner.

A quick browse on their website and I was incredibly impressed with their new season offerings, able to collate a wish-list of my favourite pieces all for less than £50 each. With quilted floral jackets that look a lot more expensive than the price tag, to showstopping dresses ideal for spring and summer celebrations, I was spoilt for choice.

Below, you’ll my fashion-writer approved picks from Roman that I predict will become a staple in wardrobes for years to come. These universally flattering items should make you feel as good as you look, ensuring your outfits are sorted for the upcoming months.

This coveted dress from Roman has us dreaming of holidays on a Greek island, with many shoppers saying it reminds them of the styles worn in Mamma Mia. Featuring a smooth, woven fabric, this dress with its blue and white print offers a cool, spring-ready look that promises elegance.

It’s the perfect pick-me-up for any sun-soaked holiday or just lounging at home, providing an effortlessly stylish ensemble when paired with tan sandals or crisp white trainers for £42. However, it may not be the best option for those of shorter stature, as there are no petite or regular skirt lengths available.

The material could easily be tailored and adjusted to suit your needs. For a dress with a similar print that comes in petite, regular or tall, consider Boden’s Marcia Jersey Midi Shirt Dress.

A light jacket is a must-have for transitional dressing and at less than £40, Roman’s Stretch Pocket Detail Jacket is an excellent contender. It comes in an impressive 17 different colours, including pastel hues, neutrals and checks, and it has racked up incredible ratings, scoring a near-perfect 4.9 out of five stars by 36 customers.

It’s a great alternative to a denim jacket as shoppers say ‘it has plenty of stretch’ so it ‘doesn’t feel restrictive’. Customers have also noted that it is made from ‘high quality’ material, ensuring that it will stand the test of time and can be a spring staple in wardrobes for years to come.

The Pink Abstract Print Shirred Waist Maxi Dress is ‘even more stunning than it looks online’, according to one five star reviewer – and it certainly caught our eye thanks to the statement print and fabulous flowing skirt. For shoppers with a celebration coming up this year, such as a spring or summer wedding, it would make a beautiful option.

People say that the ‘split is not too high’ and they adore ‘the added bonus of discreet pockets’. Priced at less than £50, it’s a really special piece that is so gorgeous it is making wearers ‘feel like a million dollars’. Some have said ‘it is far too long dragging on the floor’, so those with a shorter frame might need it taken up or pair it with chunky wedges. For those who like the look of this dress, Nobody’s Child Pink Floral Bandeau Ruby Maxi Dress might also be worth a look.

Nail the boho trend with this £25 White Lace Cotton Maxi Skirt. It’s one of the most affordable white maxi skirts we’ve seen on the market, however, we’re also swooning over this Lace Maxi Tiered Skirt retailing for £49.50 at Marks and Spencer.

This Roman maxi skirt can pair with pretty much anything that’s already in a wardrobe, such as t-shirts, cami tops, cardigans and jumpers. Shoppers praise the lining which ensures it is ‘comfortable to wear’ and they’re ‘not worried about it being see-through.’

Printed jackets are everywhere this season, being sported by celebrities and fashion editors alike. This Black Floral Print Cotton Jacket is ‘gorgeous’ and it also comes in pink for a brighter look. A popper fastening means it can be worn closed, but we love the idea of wearing it open with a plain white tee and light blue denim jeans.

The statement pattern might not be to everyone’s taste, however, the monochrome version stops it from being too much. Those with a little more to spend can find a similar style at Next for £76 with their ‘well admired’ Ecru/Navy Quilted Embroided Jacket.
