Hollywood icon Mickey Rourke caused quite the stir the very moment he shot onto our screens at the Celebrity Big Brother launch – and the 72-year-old actor has continued to cause chaos in the famous house as he gets to know his fellow housemates including Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd, Nickelodeon’s JoJo Siwa, and EastEnders legend, Patsy Palmer.
The ITV reality show has barely been on our screens for a week – after it launched on Monday night – and boxer and actor Mickey has already drummed up quite a reaction from viewers with his antics. Some fans of the show are calling for Mickey to be ejected from the house while other viewers have also complained to Ofcom.
But, what exactly has Mickey been doing to cause such a reaction? Here, we take a look at toe controversial Celebrity Big Brother housemates’ antics…
ITV viewers branded the Hollywood star’s entrance onto the show as ‘uncomfortable’ as he made his first appearance on Monday night when hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best welcomed this year’s housemates into the iconic Celebrity Big Brother house.
Mickey was the final celebrity to enter the house, but had a very shocking moment before he even entered. He appeared to stare down host AJ as she introduced herself to him before he started to grab onto her and touch her excessively. Things then went from bad to worse as Mickey became extremely distracted by the live audience as he attempted to give them all a high-five before made his way to the door of the house.
The Rainmaker actor was taking so long trying to interact with the crowds that AJ ended up having to literally push him into the house before he tried to drag her in there with him. After the awkward altercation, fans flocked to X to share their concern for host AJ, as one wrote: “Someone get some security for AJ from Mickey Rourke because what the hell was that????” Another shared: “Mickey’s entrance is the strangest entrance I think there’s ever been on this show. Poor AJ.”
Mickey has risked fans calling for his axe from the show after fat-shaming one of his fellow housemates. The Wrestler actor was seen in conversation with comedian Donna Preston. While she was wearing an LED face mask and lying on his bed, Mickey asked if she had been seeing any results.
Donna admitted she had only been using the mask for a few months, leading to Mickey saying: “You’d probably be better off running round the block for ten minutes.” Donna responded: “I’ve got to try something. I’m getting a little turkey neck,” before Mickey added: “It comes with the territory.”
Donna appeared confused as she asked him: “What, life?” “Yeah,” Mikey replied, before continuing: “It’s like they say, you are what you eat.” The conversation left Donna looking visibly shocked before Patsy Palmer attempted to stick up for her by saying she knows the comedian eats “really healthy”. After Donna agreed with the EastEnders actress, she later shared her dismay to fellow housemates Danny Beard and Ella Rae Wise.
She appeared to try to brush off the situation with laughter, but admitted her shock at Mickey’s “you are what you eat” comment. Danny joked that Mickey must have thought Donna “were gonna lose half a f***ing stone just by putting an LED mask on”.
The interaction left fans fuming at Mickey once more online. One user on Twitter /X said: “Does Mickey have an issue with Donna?? Is she ‘too fat’ for him??” While another added: “I just realised Mickey has been homophobic, said Patsy’s cooking is s*** and called Donna fat all in THE FIRST DAY!!! Has he got his own bingo card he’s trying to mark off??? #CBB #CBBUK,” while a third raged: “Erm is that Mickey fat shaming Donna? Jesus! #CBB“.
JoJo Siwa was left in tears over a horrifying slur by Mickey. The actor found himself at the centre of trouble again when he used a homophobic slur when referencing JoJo. During a chat on last night’s show, he asked JoJo: “Where’s the smoke room? Where’s the cigarette room?,” before he then asked: “Do you like girls or boys?”
“Me? Girls. My partner is non-binary,” JoJo replied, before Mickey said: “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.” JoJo then replied: “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship.”
As he headed into the garden, Mickey then asked Love Island’s Chris hughes if they get to choose who they vote out. He told the Love Island star: “I’m going to vote the lesbian out real quick.” JoJo overheard and replied: “That’s homophobic, if that was your reasoning.”
“You can’t do that Mickey,” Chris warned Mickey but he doubled down on his comments. He then said: “I need a fag,” before gesturing to JoJo and saying: “I’m not talking to you.” Chris then interjected and said: “Mickey, you can’t say that.”
“I know. I was talking about a cigarette,” Mickey replied, as JoJo was left visibly upset by his comments. It wasn’t just Chris who stood up for JoJo, as Big Brother called Mickey to the Diary Room and warned him not to make those kind of derogatory comments about the housemates again.
Big Brother warned: “Mickey before you entered the Big Brother house the rules regarding unacceptable language and behaviour were explained to you … Mickey, do you understand how this language could be offensive to your Housemates or the viewing public?”
“Yeah I think so. If I was saying it in a nasty kind of way or if I truly meant it,” Mickey then replied, with Big Brother saying back: “Mickey, Big Brother thinks your language was offensive and unacceptable. As a result, Big Brother is giving you a formal warning. Further language or behaviour of this nature could lead to you being removed from the Big Brother house. Mickey, do you understand?”
Mickey replied: “Yes I do. It’s some serious stuff …. I apologise. I don’t have dishonourable intentions – I’m just talking smack you know. I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.”
Since being in the house for a mere three days, Mickey has managed to ruffle the feathers of nearly half of his housemates with his comments. After fat-shaming Donna and after delivering a homophobic slur to JoJo, Mickey has invertedly offended Chris Hughes, Danny Beard and Patsy Palmer with his remarks.
On Wednesday’s instalment of the ITV show, Mickey turned his nose up to Patsy’s cooking skills after she made the effort to create a slap-up dinner for her housemates. Proving that he is ungrateful, Mickey decided to insult the EastEnders star’s skills in the kitchen instead of saying thanks. This ended with Patsy giving the Hollywood star endless dirty looks.
Earlier in the week as the housemates continued getting to know one other, fans were horrified to see Mickey’s disgusting habit after he decided to brush his teeth at the kitchen sink. However it wasn’t just viewers who were unimpressed with Mickey’s teeth brushing habits as Patsy was practically heaving watching him do the deed at the kitchen sink over the dishes.
One viewer wrote: “Mickey brushing his teeth in the kitchen sink while Angelica Bell and Patsy Palmer look on in disgust… this series is going to DELIVER!! #CBBUK,” whilst another added: “JoJo Siwa trying to stop Mickey Rourke from brushing his teeth over the kitchen dishes as Patsy Palmer heaves in the background. #CBBUK.”
“Patsy’s reaction to Mickey brushing his teeth in the kitchen #CBBUK,” a third shared, with a fourth adding: “All the housemates when mickey brushed his teeth at the kitchen sink #CBBUK.” A fifth wrote: “Mickey brushing his teeth in the kitchen wtfff #CBBUK.”
