A man has shared the eerie experience his wife had after his mum died, which still disturbs him to this day.
Adam Mawson said he’s still “freaked out” by something that happened a year after his mother’s passing. In a video posted to TikTok, he said: “We started having problems with our alarm in the house.”
He described how it would go off every few hours, particularly in the small hours. They even called out an electrician, and in the days leading up to the visit, Adam would repeatedly have to go downstairs to reset the alarm.
It was on the third night of disturbances that his wife’s chilling experience unfolded. After a trip to shut off the alarm, Adam returned to find his wife sitting in bed, fully awake.
“I asked her if she was okay,” he continued. “She said she was and we just went back to sleep. Anyway, the next day, we got up and got dressed, but I noticed my wife was really quiet.”
She ultimately confided in him what she experienced. According to Adam, she said: “I’ve got something to tell you, I don’t quite know how to tell you.
“When you went downstairs to reset the alarm last night, it went really cold in the bedroom and smelled of smoke and I felt a presence.”
Adam shared that his wife claimed to have seen something out of the corner of her eye on the edge of their bed. She described turning to face the ghost of his mum, as real as if she were still alive.
According to Adam, his mum conveyed a heartfelt message through his wife, expressing how much she misses and loves them all and reassuring them that she’s okay.
He concluded: “My wife said to her that we miss her too, and then she just disappeared in front of her. How the hell did she stay calm? I would have freaked out”.
This sparked a wave of similar experiences shared by other TikTok users. One user recounted: “My mother-in-law died and I woke up one morning to see her sitting on the bed next to my husband. Thought I was dreaming until my husband said that’s weird someone was just holding my hand”.
Another person chimed in: “I saw my grandma after she passed, she was just stood in the doorway of my living room just smiling at me, I looked after her after my grandad passed”.
A third added: “My daughter-in-law passed from cancer last year aged 35. A few months after in bed I felt tapping on my side. Turning around she was there, basically she told me to tell my son to open up”.
A fourth TikTok user chimed in: “My mum saw her grandad on the end of her bed when she was in her 20’s. She said he appeared, smiled and disappeared. The same happened with my grandad and my niece. She was six at the time she saw him”.
