Angellica Bell to reveal what really happened with Martin Lewis on Celebrity Big Brother

Must read

Angellica Bell‘s husband Michael Underwood has hinted that the TV presenter may finally disclose why she was dropped from The Martin Lewis Money Show back in 2023. The presenter, 49, who has built up a huge career across children’s TV and daytime programmes, was suddenly ‘sacked’ from the ITV show after co-hosting it for six years with Martin Lewis, 52.

At the time, Angellica was told she would no longer be required to appear on The Martin Lewis Money Show, which she had appeared on for six years. Former kids TV presenter Angellica had worked on the BAFTA-nominated finance show since 2017, and signed up to present the rebranded version of The Gadget Show – Shop Smart, Save Money.

However, when it was reported that the move presented a ‘conflict of interest’, due to it becoming another consumer money programme, Angellica was swiftly axed from the ITV show. After mum-of-two Angellica left the Martin Lewis Money Show Live, she was replaced by former Olympian and broadcaster Jeanette Kwakye instead.

At the time, a source said: “Angellica was a valued part of the team having joined in series seven, but, given the importance of maintaining a clear, individual and distinct identity for the show it was felt that her new role meant she would not be offered a new contract to continue on the Martin Lewis Money Show Live.

“The Martin Lewis Money Show Live production team did not become aware that Angelica’s new show would be called Shop Smart, Save Money until that programme was announced to the media in late September, with filming for it involving Angellica having already started prior to that. An amicable discussion was held with her regarding the situation.”

ITV responded to the claims made in 2023, saying: “Angellica is not working on the Martin Lewis Money Show Live, however, the relationship with her remains amicable and we are working with her on other forthcoming programmes.”

Now, two years on from Angellica’s shock axe from the show, her husband Michael has hinted that she may dish the dirt on what really happened now that she’s in the Celebrity Big Brother house. Michael took to TikTok on Monday night to share his excitement about seeing his wife enter the iconic house – but fans were quick to ask what had actually happened between her and Martin.

One wrote: “Why did she stop working with Martin Lewis? I thought they were great together.” To which Michael responded: “It’s not for me to say but she might talk about it on Celebrity Big Brother.”

Angelica has got the full support of her fellow TV presenter husband, Michael. The presenter and Angelica have two children together, and Michael posted a glowing tribute to his wife for Mother’s Day at the end of March. Sharing an image of Angellica holding some toy flowers, he wrote: “I told you I’d get you some flowers. Happy Mother’s Day to the best mum our children could ever have.”

The television and radio presenter made her entrance into the Celebrity Big Brother house on Monday (April 7th), and stunned in a bright and cheerful yellow mini-dress. Born in 1976, Angellica started her career as a roving reporter for Channel 4’s Big Breakfast in the late 1990s. But it was in 2000, at age 24, that she began working as a presenter between shows on CBBC.

Throughout the 2000s, she also became the main anchor of shows such as That’s Genius!, Xchange, 50/50, and Short Change. From 2004 to 2005 she presented CBBC’s The Saturday Show, before she eventually left CBBC in December 2006.

In more recent years, Angellica has appeared on episodes of The One Show and presented The Martin Lewis Money Show from 2020 until 2023. In 2017, she beat Dev Griffin and Ulrika Jonsson to be crowned the winner of Celebrity MasterChef, and she’ll be hoping to also make it deep into the competition in the CBB house.

Angellica will be spending the next few weeks living in a house with the likes of influencer and singer JoJo Siwa, Love Island star Chris Hughes, EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer, 90s singer Chesney Hawkes, and actor Mickey Rourke.
